Forging presses

TS Plzeň a.s. (formerly ŠKODA TS) supplies presses for hammer forging with a capacity from 6.3MN to 200MN.

Hydraulic presses of TS Plzeň a.s. for hammer forging, CKV and CKW series, are intended for all operations of hammer forging of steel and non-ferrous metals such as ingot upsetting, punching, hammer forging of various semi-products with circular as well as n-edged cross section, and forging of rings and hollow cylinders on a mandrel.

All movements of presses are sensed by incremental or absolute sensors whose data are transmitted to the control computer. Their software can manage the entire forging process automatically without any intervention of the press operator. This procedure also enables to optimize forging, minimizing the necessary heating in furnaces, and virtually eliminates the output of faulty products by understepping the dimension.

Forging presses of CKV series

Lis CKV 84 /105 MN

Hydraulic presses of CKV series have a robust vertical four-post or two-post design. Press cylinders with plungers are placed in an upper crosshead. To increase the service life, the plungers are equipped with hardened surface and connected to a plunger crosshead which is guided in robust housings along press columns. In the lower beam there is a longitudinally positioned movable forging table with a guide for mounting anvils. Cross movement of anvils ensures quick changeovers of the lower anvils. The upper anvil is mounted in the plunger crosshead by hydraulic fixtures.

Presses are remote-controlled through an electro-hydraulic system from the press control console by the appropriate buttons and control elements. For smoothing of forged pieces, the control system integrates an automatic fast forging device whose frequency can be set on the press control console. High forging accuracy is achieved by control elements for precise forging added to the press control system, consisting in the remote setting of the lower position of forging stroke and digital scanning of its track. These presses are driven by an accumulator station with a water-oil emulsion.

The construction of press parts is always verified by MKP calculation methods. To verify the correctness of calculations with regard to individual components, a virtual prototype of the complete forging press CKV 140/170 MN was built in cooperation with ZČU Plzeň within the MPO TIP program.

The virtual prototype was progressively loaded with centric and eccentric forces at different positions of the movable crosshead. This simulated real working conditions of the forging press. Strain fields of individual componets in their mutual interaction as well as their displacement were measured for each load. Building the press virtual prototype puts the press project preparation on a quite real basis and the possibility of calculation errors due to incorrectly determined boundary conditions is substantially eliminated.

Forging presses of CKW series

Lis CKW 63 / 74 MN

Hydraulic presses of CKW series for hammer forging have a robust two-post construction. Press and return cylinders of a plunger type are placed under the forging shop floor.

The press frame (lower and upper girder with columns) moves in a central traverse in a flat guiding with adjustable clearance.

The lower anvil is placed on a longitudinally movable forging table between two guide plates. Cross movement of anvils ensures quick changeovers of the lower anvils. The upper anvil is mounted in the upper girder by hydraulic fixtures.
